StatoilHydro has on behalf of Gassco awarded the fabrication and installation contract for Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) Metering Upgrade & Double Inlet Crossover System (DIXO) project at Kårstø, Norway, to Aibel AS. The scope includes project management, fabrication and installation work.

The work starts immediately with a familiarisation period at StatoilHydro’s engineering offices in London, UK. The installation period at Kårstø will commence in January next year and continue to March 2012. The manning level for Aibel is almost 300 as peak and an average manning of about 100 people. Most of the work will be carried out locally in the Haugesund region and at Kårstø.

President and CEO of Aibel AS, Jan Skogseth, comments: “This contract is very important to Aibel. It is in line with our strategic goals to strengthen our position at onshore plants, as well as maintaining our position as a significant employer in the region. The NGL Metering Upgrade & DIXO project is an interesting project where the goal is to improve and upgrade important components of the Kårstø plant. Throughout the project there will be, as always, maximum focus on health and safety.”
