StatoilHydro has awarded Aibel AS the study contract for conceptual development of the Troll A 3rd & 4th compressor trains. The compressor solutions, including future power supply, shall allow for future development of the Troll field. The scope of work comprises evaluations of capacities and necessary platform modifications, in addition to future compressor reconfigurations.
The work starts immediately in Aibel’s engineering offices at Billingstad outside Oslo, where the selected conceptual solution will be developed towards the start of the FEED phase early summer 2010.

The contract value is approximately 35 MNOK.

President and CEO of Aibel AS, Jan Skogseth, comments: "We are very pleased that StatoilHydro has awarded this contract to Aibel. We have a long track record from the Troll A platform, in addition to the design and delivery of other compressor installations for the North Sea. We regard this contract as recognition of our experience and knowledge, as well as enhancing our position for this type of contracts in the future."

The Troll A platform is a cornerstone in Norway’s gas production and export and a major source of energy for Europe. Situated 80 km north-west of Bergen, gas processed on board the platform comes from its own reservoir and also those from the Troll B & C platforms. Gas and condensate are then transported to the onshore Kollsnes gas treatment plant.
