Aibel has received the news that ConocoPhillips has selected the company for award of a contract for the Front-end Engineering and Development (FEED) work for the Ekofisk Utility and Accommodation Topsides project.

While this contract is for engineering only, it will allow Aibel the opportunity to compete for an EPC contract for actual construction of the living quarters platform for the Ekofisk field.

Working closely with Aibel on this study will be one major subcontractor, Emtunga. Emtunga has over 25 years experience with accommodation modules.

The contract comprises about 55,000 engineering hours. This work will be finished in December 2008, when a complete EPC tender for construction of the new accommodation platform is also to be submitted.
