Odfjell Drilling Technology has awarded Aibel AS a contract to carry out work relating to the drilling upgrade on Veslefrikk.

The value to Aibel of this contract is around 20 million NOK. Statoil has awarded Odfjell Drilling Technology (ODT) a contract with a total value of 160 million NOK.

This is the first drilling project that Aibel AS and Odfjell Drilling Technology will be performing together since entering into a memorandum of understanding in 2008.

The contract is an EPCI contract, which means that the companies will undertake engineering work, purchasing, construction and installation work. The existing drilling facilities on Veslefrikk A are being upgraded as they no longer meet working environment, ergonomics and noise requirements.

Around 40 people will be employed on the Veslefrikk project. The project will be managed from Odfjell Drilling Technology's office at Ågotnes.

The work starts immediately and will take almost 18 months.
