Aker Solutions wins contract for replacement of cement units on Gullfaks platforms

StatoilHydro has awarded the contract for replacement of cement units on the Gullfaks A and Gullfaks B platforms in the North Sea to Aker Solutions. The EPCIC contract has a value of NOK 147 million with upside to NOK 160 million including option. Project completion is scheduled July 2010.

Aker Solutions will perform all engineering and design work and replace the existing cement units in order to increase equipment capacities and fulfil new requirements and guidelines from StatoilHydro related to working environment and integrated operations. Design and procurement work will start immediately and be performed at the Aker Solutions regional office in Trondheim, Norway. Fabrication activities will start January 2009. The work includes onshore fabrication and offshore installation of 220 tonnes, and removal of 150 tonnes offshore. Offshore work will start early spring 2009. Contract party with StatoilHydro is Aker Offshore Partner AS.

Maintenance and modifications of the Gullfaks platforms are the responsibility of Aker Solutions as part of the long term contract for such work for the Tampen area with StatoilHydro. Maintenance and modification services are core competencies of Aker Solutions, and is one of the key strategic areas for the company in the North Sea and internationally. Aker Solutions has broad knowledge and experience within this market segment through long term contracts and execution of modification projects for the operating companies in the North Sea.
