TOTAL, in association with Amoco Venezuela, has successfully completed a delineation well (DJ481) on the Jusepin permit in Venezuela. Production tests conducted on the well yielded a flow rate of 7,600 barrels of oil per day.

The Jusepin permit located in eastern Venezuela came on stream in April 1997 with an initial flow rate of 10,000 barrels of oil per day. The well should be hooked up to the permit's processing facilities in early July 1998, thus increasing the output at Jusepin from the current output of 23,000 barrels of oil per day to more than 30,000 barrels of oil per day.

Amoco has a 45 percent stake in a partnership with the operator TOTAL as part of a 20-year service contract signed in November 1993 with PDVSA, the Venezuelan national oil company. TOTAL holds the remaining interest in the permit area.

Elsewhere in Venezuela, Amoco and TOTAL are partners on the Amoco-operated Punta Pescador exploration permit block, which lies north of the Orinoco Delta. Amoco also holds a 37.5 percent interest in the Guarapiche exploration block, located in eastern Venezuela in partnership with BP and Maxus.

Amoco Venezuela is a subsidiary of Amoco Corporation. Amoco Corporation is a global producer of oil, natural gas, refined products and chemicals with annual revenues of more than $36 billion in 1997.
