Bluewater Energy Services B.V. has been awarded a contract for the supply of a single point mooring system (SPM) for the BHP Billiton Angostura Project in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago including engineering, design, procurement, fabrication. The Angostura Field is the first major offshore oilfield to be developed in Trinidad and Tobago in recent years.

BHP Billiton Petroleum is developing the Angostura development located about 35 km off the North East Coast of Trinidad. The facilities will consist of:
A number of offshore wellhead platforms and a central processing platform connected by intra-field pipelines.

Bluewater will design and supply the SPM system, consisting of a square, turret catenary anchor leg mooring (CALM) buoy, the pipeline end manifold (PLEM), submarine and floating hoses for operation in about 26 m of water at a location off the southeastern coast of Trinidad, approximately 4 nautical miles southwest of Galeota Point offshore Guayaguayare Bay.

The CALM buoy will accommodate tankers up to 150,000 dwt. The design will have six mooring legs and will be designed in a single product-handling format with a single 30” line and a product distribution system incorporating a fluid swivel unit. Delivery of the CALM system is expected to take place by April 2004.

The engineering, management and procurement will be handled in The Netherlands; parts of the fabrication will be done in Trinidad in support of BHP Billitons stated commitment to the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to support the technological development of the engineering and fabrication industry.
