Burntisland Fabrications Ltd (BiFab) is delighted to announce the award of the frame contract by GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd for the Cygnus Project.

This contract covers the award of the design, procurement and construction of four jackets, complete with piles, with a total weight of approximately 8,000 tonne and an estimated value of £47million.

Discussions continue regarding additional scope under a frame agreement for the delivery of a 3,500 tonne accommodation and utilities module.

The project will involve BiFab's manufacturing facilities at Methil, Burntisland and Arnish and is expected to create 100 new jobs.

The contract will be delivered in phases between April 2014 and April 2015.

Government support has been key in the award of this contract by encouraging UK content wherever possible.

BiFab’s Managing Director, John Robertson, commented –

“This contract was won, we believe, not only due to a commercially attractive bid but also on BiFab’s ability to deliver a quality product, on schedule and with a good safety culture.

We look forward to working with the GDF SUEZ team delivering this project safely and on schedule.

This latest success enhances BiFab’s growing reputation as a major manufacture of topsides and jackets for the North Sea.
