BP Indonesia will start drilling gas wells in Tangguh field in Papua in June, part of a series to drill 15 wells in the project, BP Indonesia President John C. Minge said at the 31st IPA Annual Convention and Exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday (05/16).

“So far, the project is progressing well. We will start drilling activity with the first of 15 wells to be drilled,” he said.

As reported previously, BP initially plans to build two LNG trains. The proposal to install the third train is under discussion. “We will complete the construction of the two LNG trains before discussing and planning the third one,” he said.

BP is optimistic that the project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2008 and commercial operations will commence in the first quarter of 2009.(***)
