Following the successful concluding of FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela conversion contract - the largest work amount conversion project in the world, CHENGXI SHIPYARD, GUANGZHOU cut a figure again on undertaking FPSO conversion projects.
On 10-Jul-2013, CXG signed the contracts with SBM, world-leading company in offshore energy industry, of two FPSO conversion project - FPSO Cidade de Marica & FPSO Cidade de Saquarema, marking a further breakthrough of CXG’s transformation to offshore industry. Mr. Nan Daqing, vice president of CSSC Group Company, on behalf of CSSC Group Company, presented at the contracts signing ceremony and delivered a speech.
Mr. Nan expressed the appreciation to SBM senior management for the full faith and great support on CSSC and CXG. He pointed out that CSSC Group Company had attached great importance to developing strategic partnership of cooperation with SBM. During the first cooperative conversion project - FPSO Cidade de Ilhabel, CSSC actively coordinated and integrate the Group resources on technical design, production management and manpower allocation to ensure the project progression on schedule, which established a solid foundation for the further cooperation of SBM and CSSC. The conversion contract signing of FPSO Cidade de Marica & FPSO Cidade de Saquarema marked the further cooperation with SBM. Mr. Nan requested CXG to make an all-out effort to achieve a better job on technical design, project management and production organization, ensuring the follwing two projects to be completed safely and effectively and to be completed on schedule with good quality.
Mr. JP Laures, SBM chief operation officer, extended the thanks to CSSC Group Company for the continuous care and support. He pointed out that the successful contracts signing marked the further cooperation between SBM and CSSC. He hoped that through the joint effort by SBM and CXG, all management level can be sustainably improved to facilitate the progress of CXG’s industry transformation to offshore industry.
The main work of FPSO Cidade de Marica & FPSO Cidade de Saquarema projects is to convert the double hull oil tanker to floating production storage and offloading, per project including 18,000 ton plate renewal. 160,000 ㎡tank coating, 175000 inch pipe line renewal and 900km cable pulling, 11 modules lifting and installation, new-built accommodation for 140 persons, and etc. Now, the two vessels already berth in CXG and preparation work of main deck piping demolition and E/R equipment demolition already started. It is estimated that two projects will be completed respectively in December, 2013 and February, 2014.
Mr. Zhang Qinghuan, Vice Chairman of CXG, highlighted that the contract signing of the two projects brought the company’s transformation to offshore industry to a new height, and indicated SBM’s fully confirmation to CXG’s work performance in conversion. Mr. Zhang expressed the confidence to complete the two projects safely on schedule and set a good company brand image in conversion industry.
SBM is world-leading company in floating production and mooring systems, in production operations and in terminals and services. After inspecting on many yards in China, SBM chose CXG to be its partner in China. Right now, CXG and SBM had established sound cooperation relationship after cooperation in project FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela. Through thorough study on offshore products in recent years and practice on project FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela, CXG already accumulated rich experience in offshore products production, project management, site construction, and gain a rapid development on technical design and talents reserves. In the progression of transformation to offshore industry, CXG have achieved preliminary success, successively completing the repair work of semi-submersible drilling platform –“Nan Hai Wu Hao”, FPO conversion work of “Alisa Craig 1”, FPSO repair work of “Nan Hai Kai Tuo”, repair work of semi-submersible platform –Nan Hai Tiao Zhan,and etc., establishing a good cooperation relationship with many offshore-related companies, such as SBM, Petroteo, and CNOOC. Excellent work performance earned clients’ trust and affirmation. It is reported that the project FPSO Cidade de Ilhabela is the largest work amount conversion project in the world. Right now, the project goes smoothly, and achieved 6 million Man-hours without a LTI.
