GS-Caltex, South Korea's second largest refiner plans to upgrade its Yosu plant with the addition of a 150,000 b/d vacuum distillation unit, 55,000 b/d ISOCRACKING Unit and 17,000 b/d ISODEWAXING/ISOFINISHING Unit licensed by Chevron Lummus Global (CLG), while expanding the capacity of its existing residue fluid catalytic cracker. CLG has completed the state-of-the-art basic engineering design for the integrated hydroprocessing complex, and startup is expected in 2007/2008.

With this investment, GS-Caltex will become the premium producer of clean gasoline, diesel and have the flexibility to manufacture both Group II and III lubricant base oils for Korea and the Asia-Pacific region.
