Chiyoda Corporation was awarded a contract on a full turnkey basis for Mizushima LNG Receiving Terminal for Mizushima LNG Company, Limited, jointly established by Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. and Nippon Mitsubishi Oil Corporation.

The scope of work for the project includes removal of existing tanks within the premises of Mizushima Refinery and installing one PC LNG tank with a capacity of 160,000 kiloliters above ground, receiving and transshipment facilities mainly for use at the Mizushima power plant of Chugoku Electric Power. The commercial operation is scheduled in April, 2006. The capacity of LNG handled will be 600,000 tonnes per annum.

We, Chiyoda Corporation, have constructed the first terminal for receiving LNG in Japan at the Negishi for the Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. in 1969. Since then, among all the 24 terminals constructed and operated by electric power companies and city gas companies in Japan, we have participated in engineering and construction of 12 terminals, being a half of the total LNG terminals, and are enjoying a high reputation.

We believe this award is in recognition of Chiyoda's outstanding past achievements/experience in performing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of LNG terminals.

In addition to LNG receiving terminals as stated above, we, Chiyoda have been engaged in about 25 % of all LNG plant facilities operating in the world. Further, Chiyoda has been engaged in EPC works of a full-scale underground LPG storage terminal or water-sealed cavern in Ningbo, China, which was won by us for the first time as Japanese contractor.

We plan to continually promote the business development in gas-related fields the demand for which is ever increasing.

PC LNG Tank
PC LNG Tank is a storage tank system which integrates pre-stressed concrete wall with the above ground dual metal shell structure tanks made up of the conventional low-temperature steel plate (9% Ni carbon steel) inner tank and the ordinary steel (carbon steel) outer tank.
