Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company, owner and operator of China’s first LNG receiving terminal and trunkline, will start commercial operations on September 28, 2006. “We are pleased to be commencing our 25-year commercial relationship with our LNG supplier, Australia’s North West Shelf Venture, and our 11 mainland and Hong Kong customers,” says Tom King, President - Guangdong Dapeng LNG Company. “The start of this LNG and natural gas value chain is the result of excellent cooperation and coordination between government and enterprise. The people of Guangdong will be getting a safe, clean and reliable supply of energy to help support continued economic development in the province,” he said.

The first LNG cargo was received from the North West Shelf Venture on 26 May 2006. Two additional cargoes have been subsequently delivered. All three cargoes were used to commission the re-gasification terminal, trunkline equipment and gas buyers’ facilities during the 90-day period which ends with the start of commercial operations. This timing is more than one month ahead of the schedule established by the Company in early 2004.
