Bluewater has been awarded a contract to supply a Soft Yoke Tower Mooring System (SYMS) for the Bohai Development Project located in Bohai Bay.

The partners in the field development are ConocoPhillips China Inc. (Operator) and CNOOC, one of China’s national oil companies. The production facilities for the Bohai Development Project will include wellhead platforms, a central processing facility, and the Penglai FPSO, which will be connected to the mooring tower. The new FPSO, and so the mooring system, will be among the largest in the world, and certainly the largest in China, with production capacity of over 190,000 barrels of oil and storage capacity of 1.8 million barrels of oil. The system will be installed a water depth of approximately 27 metres.

Bluewater’s activities for this project consist of the design, engineering, model testing, procurement, fabrication and delivery of this large, soft yoke tower mooring system. The delivery of the system is expected to take place in two stages: the substructure in 2007 and the upper structure in 2008.
