Dietsmann’s Caspian Sea Region has been awarded three new onshore and offshore contracts at the Kashagan field in Kazakhstan by Agip Kazakhstan North Caspian Operating Company. With these three new contracts, Dietsmann is now responsible for the maintenance activities of the Kashagan onshore and offshore facilities.

Dietsmann has been working in Kazakhstan for 15 years, with maintenance activities at the onshore Karachaganak field near Aksai, as well as the giant offshore Kashagan field, 80 km South–East of Atyrau in the Caspian Sea. The Kashagan field is the largest oilfield discovered in the North Caspian Sea area, and is considered the most important oil discovery worldwide since Prudhoe Bay in Alaska’s North Slope in 1968.
The new contracts include an Onshore Facilities Maintenance Services contract and Offshore Facilities Maintenance Services contract. The third contact is a Pipelines Preservation, Operation & Maintenance Services contract awarded to Dietsmann in partnership with Kulsary Gas, a well-known local company specializing in gas distribution.

The contracts will have an initial duration of two years and will be effective from 1 January 2012, and have a value of $20,000,000. As always, Dietsmann aims to maximize local employment in the maintenance organization of its operations. Current local employment figures are 88% of a total of workforce of 200.
Kazakhstan is a growing market and 2012 will be a challenging year. Agip KCO selected Dietsmann due to its extensive know-how in operation and maintenance, and its presence in Kazakhstan for more than 15 years. Dietsmann’s outstanding reputation played a very important role in the winning of these contracts.
