Dragados Offshore (DOSSA), a company belonging to Dragados Industrial, has been awarded with a € 36 million contract by the Norwegian Oil and Gas Company Statoil. The contract, for which the main international offshore construction companies were also tendering, is for the construction in the Cadiz Bay, and the transportation to a yard located in the City of Stord in Norway, of two sections (the Manifold/Riser Balcony Module and the Flare Tower) for the new Semi-submersible gas production platform "Kristin".

The contract, with duration of 16 months, represents 750.000 Man-hours for Dragados Offshore facilities in Puerto Real (Cadiz) and can be seen as new evidence of the high quality and international competitiveness level attained in this Yard. The scope of work of the contract includes construction engineering, partial procurement of materials, construction, mechanical completion, transportation and delivery of the structures to Norway. Statoil is one of the most important producers of gas in Europe and the largest producer of Oil in the North Sea.

The two structures that will be fabricated at Dragados Offshore for Statoil will weigh 4570 Tons and will be completed at the beginning of spring of 2004. After completion, the structures will be sea transported to a yard located in Stord for final integration to the other components to form the new semi-submersible production platform that will interface to existing fields.

Kristin Platform is a large facility that will treat the gas extracted from 12 subsea wells from four templates. The platform will start operations in 2005 and will have capacity to produce 20 thousand cubic metres of condensate and 18 million of cubic metres of Rich gas per day and a capacity for total liquid handling of 25 thousand cubic meters per day.

Dragados Offshore has wide experience in the development of projects for the North Sea, in both the Norwegian sector and the UK sector. Dossa has developed since 1975 twentyone projects for its gas and petrol fields. Among other projects, we can find the construction of the Utilities Module for the Scott Platform in 1993, the Hull for the Semi-submersible Platform Snorre B in 2000, the topside for the FPSO Captain in 1996 and several jackets such as those for the Platforms Odin, Ula, Oseberg C, Bruce and Britannia.

It is also relevant that in 1998 the yard of Puerto Real completed the works for the construction of the Orësund Bridge that connects the North of Denmark with the South of Sweden. Piece by piece, the 49 steel and concrete bridge spans, of 140 meters approximately, were sea transported in large barges to their final destination. Currently, Dossa is fabricating in the Cadiz Bay the topsides of the new structure EPC-78 B for Pemex, works that are well advanced, and two jackets for ChevronTexaco that will be installed in the Sanha complex located on the West Coast of Africa.
