First Spot LNG Cargo to Korea Gas Increases Qatargas’ Country Markets to Seven

Qatar Liquefied Gas Company (Qatargas) has entered into an agreement to supply one LNG cargo to Korea Gas Corporation. This is the seventh country market to which Qatargas has delivered LNG.

This spot cargo of 125,000 cubic meters of LNG is being delivered on the LNG carrier, Aquarius. Qatargas has acquired a time charter party agreement for this carrier.

The cargo was loaded on January 18, 2000 and discharged on February 1, 2000 at the Korea Gas Corporation receiving terminal of Inchon.

This is the seventh country, worldwide to receive LNG from Qatargas. The company’s long term LNG commitment for LNG deliveries is primarily to eight Japanese buyers: Chubu Electric Power Co.Inc., Tohoku Electric Power Co.Inc., The Tokyo Electric Power Co.Inc., The Kansai Electric Power Co.Inc., The Chugoku Electric Power Co.Inc., Tokyo Gas Co.Ltd., Osaka Gas Co. Ltd., Toho Gas Co. Ltd.

In addition, Qatargas has sold spot LNG cargoes to Enagas (Spain), Botas (Turkey), Edison (Italy), Duke Energy (USA) and CMS (USA), and Gaz de France (France).

The initial Qatargas LNG shipment was delivered to Japan in 1997. As of February 2, Qatargas has delivered 209 cumulative cargoes, of which 169 to Japan on nine state-of-the-art LNG carriers.
