Foster Wheeler Ltd. (Nasdaq: FWLT) announced today that NIS – Naftagas Promet has awarded Foster Wheeler Italiana S.p.A. the process design package for a new hydrogen production unit to be built at the Pancevo refinery in Serbia. NIS - Naftagas Promet is a subsidiary of NIS - Petroleum Industry of Serbia.

The terms of the award were not disclosed and the project was included in Foster Wheeler's first-quarter bookings.

Foster Wheeler will provide a process design package and technical follow-up during the detailed design phase. The new hydrogen unit, which will use natural gas as feedstock, will have a capacity of 47,000 normal cubic meters per hour (Nm3 /h), and includes pressure swing absorption.

“This award reconfirms Foster Wheeler's leading position in hydrogen technology,” said Umberto della Sala, president and CEO of Foster Wheeler Italiana. “Foster Wheeler has its own hydrogen technology and many years' experience, having designed and installed over 100 hydrogen and synthesis gas plants. Furthermore, this award re-establishes Foster Wheeler in the Balkan region.”

“We are very pleased with Foster Wheeler's approach to this project, not only in terms of effective communication activities during the project bidding and execution phases, but also for the efforts made in keeping the project on schedule,” said Milan Andjelic, project manager.

This phase of the project is scheduled for completion by August 2005.
