Foster Wheeler Iberia Wins Two LNG Terminal Expansion Projects in Spain

Foster Wheeler Ltd. (NYSE:FWC) announced that its subsidiary Foster Wheeler Iberia, was awarded two projects for liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal expansions in Cartagena and Huelva, by Enagas, the leading Spanish natural gas supplier.
These projects are a part of the Spanish gas infrastructure development program, which was put in place to meet rising LNG demand caused by several expected new gas turbine combined-cycle (GTCC) plants. This demand level is anticipated to double by 2010.

At the present time, Foster Wheeler Iberia is working on three other LNG projects—Fenosa Gas/Soluziona Ingenieria in Egypt, and new gas terminals in Spain for REGANOSA and Villar Mir Group.

For the two projects for Enagas, Foster Wheeler is responsible for detailed engineering, equipment and material procurement, and construction supervision for both projects, which have an overall estimated investment value of $122 million.

The Cartagena terminal project will expand its capacity from 450,000 to 600,000 Nm3/h (normal cubic meters per hour), and includes the installation of new lines of vaporization, send-out pumps, a seawater system, and utilities.

The Huelva terminal is being expanded from a capacity of 450,000 to 900,000 Nm3/h. This expansion involves the installation of open racks of seawater vaporizers, submerged combustion vaporizers, primary pumps, send-out pumps, boil-off compressors, and corresponding auxiliary equipment. Also, the storage capacity is increased from 160,000 to 310,000 m3 (cubic meters) with the installation of a new tank.

"With these two awards for Enagas, and our participation in other projects developed by other gas companies, Foster Wheeler has become one of the leading Spanish engineering contractors in this field in Spain."
