Foster Wheeler Ltd. (NYSE:FWC) announced today that its subsidiary, Foster Wheeler South Africa (Pty) Limited, has been awarded the $130 million engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) contract for an upstream gas facility by Sasol Petroleum Temane Limitada.

The project is based in Temane, Republic of Mozambique, and is the first major upstream and petrochemical development in Mozambique.

Foster Wheeler will be responsible for developing a production facility at the Temane gas field producing sales-quality gas for transmission to South Africa. The development will include the infield flow lines from 11 well sites and the central processing facilities. With a natural gas feedstock, the facility will produce 120 million gigajoules per annum of sales-quality gas.

"This project extends Foster Wheeler's relationship with Sasol," said Ian Bill, chairman and chief executive of Foster Wheeler Energy Limited. "Earlier this year Foster Wheeler's Reading Oil and Gas Center of Excellence developed the basic design and engineering package for this facility. Foster Wheeler's innovative approach produced a cost-effective basis for the development while achieving challenging schedule objectives."
