Foster Wheeler Energy Limited (FWEL) has been awarded a contract to carry out the Basic Design and Engineering Package (BDEP) for SASOL Petroleum Temane Limitada's Temane Pande Development Project. This work will be executed in Foster Wheeler's Reading Oil and Gas Centre of Excellence, with support from Foster Wheeler's South Africa office.

SASOL intends to convert its Sasolburg plant in South Africa to a natural gas feedstock, transported via an 895km pipeline from its onshore gas fields, Temane and Pande, in Mozambique.

FWEL's scope of work covers the infield infrastructure associated with the development of both fields, from wellhead hookup through to gas export from a central processing facility. The gathering system includes over 150km of flowlines. The Central Processing Facility will be built about 50km north-west of Vilankulos and will process around 350 MM scf/d of gas, treating it to Sales Gas specification required for use in Sasol's plants and downstream customers.

Keith Batchelor, Director of Sales and Marketing, Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, said: "This award further strengthens Foster Wheeler's relationship with Sasol. We have worked very closely together over the last three years on gas-to-liquids and we are pleased to be able to extend our relationship to this upstream gas processing facility."
