Petróleo Brasileiro S / A - PETROBRAS, [Bovespa: PETR3 / PETR4, NYSE: PBR / PBRA, Latibex: XPBR / XPBRA, BCBA: APBR / APBRA], a Brazilian energy company international company, announces that started the FPSO Capixaba the pre-operation in the Golfinho field in the Espírito Santo Basin.

The FPSO Capixaba is a floating production, storage and offloading vessel with total production capacity of 100 thousand barrels of oil and 3.5 million cubic meters of gas per day. During the pre-operation, with the estimated duration between 5 to 7 days, the estimate is that the platform can produce up to 15,000 barrels per day of light oil, 40 ° API.

After this phase, the Capixaba FPSO enter into definitive operation and the production of this field will not only contribute to the maintenance of Brazilian self-sufficiency in oil, and to increase the share of light oil with higher commercial value, the company's portfolio. Peak production is expected to occur by the end of 2006.
