"Giprogazoochistka” OJSC specialists will develop design and detail documentation for hydrosulfuric gas utilization and sulfur granulation unit producing 38.7 Kt/yr of sulfur within the frameworks of agreement with “Achinsk Refinery VNK” OJSC (being a part of NK “Rosneft”)..

Achinsk Refinery is the only large oil refinery in Krasnoyarsk Territory and of paramount importance at the oil products market of neighboring regions. The refinery capacity is 7.0 MM t (51.2 MM B)/yr of oil.

“Giprogazoochistka” OJSC has long term experience in such projects implementation including the ones at Achinsk Refinery since 1979. Hydrosulfuric gas utilization and granulated sulfur production unit of 7 K t/yr sulfur capacity designed by engineering company was put into operation in 2008 thus enabling to clean atmospheric hazardous gas emissions up to 98% and to decrease 50 times sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions.

Pursuant to plans for 2009-2013 on Achinsk Refinery extension, the refinery has signed and agreement with "Giprogazoochistka" OJSC on design development of new unit, which will allow to raise sulfur recovery from sour gas up to 99.8%. Additional technique of tail gas cleanup will be provided for to achieve such a result, thus considerably improving environmental situation in the region.

Under provisions of agreement, the design documentation development will be completed by October 2009, and detail documentation – by September 2010.

“Each project for Achinsk Refinery is unique in its own way”, - Mikhail Lebedskoy-Tambiev, “Giprogazoochistka” OJSC Deputy General Director noted. For instance, one of the crucial factors, always needed to be taken into consideration even at documentation development stage is climatic conditions, particularly temperature which achieves minimum level of minus 60 degrees. So, we must envisage application of specific cold-resistant materials ensuring strength over the temperature range from plus 40 to minus 70 degrees.
