POSEC held a groundbreaking ceremony for the LNG terminal to be constructed at the southern end of the expansion site at the Kwangyang Works.

The LNG terminal, which will accommodate tanks and utility and other facilities, will reclaim the southern part of a slag disposal area. The civil construction project is responsible for revetment, dredging/reclamation and soil improvement.

Senior Executive Vice President Kim, Kwang Nam, the Head of the Civil & Architecture Division, Director Chun, Min Soo, Site Manager Han, Chul Hwan and other site workers from POSEC were present at the ceremony. Han, Soo-Yang, General Superintendent of the Kwangyang Works, related executives from POSCO, and executives of POS-AC and POS-ENERGY also participated in the ceremony. The reclamation project, which will require 22 months, will be completed by the end of January 2001.
