Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) has been awarded a contract by Petrobras for the Transportation and Installation of the PRA-1 platform, offshore Campos Basin in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil.

The PRA-1 platform is an oil booster platform gathering production from several deepwater fields and pumping it into a large diameter export line to shore in order to reduce the need for shuttle tankers.

The installation of the launch jacket and approx. 12,000 tonnes topsides will be in 2006. The Thialf will be used for the project.

The PRA-1 project means that HMC will show up in Brazil almost 20 years after our SSCVs successfully installed most of the fixed infrastructure in the Campos Basin.
