Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) received a $1 billion order for a gas treatment plant from Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co., Ltd (ADGAS) in the UAE.

Under the contract, HHI will reclaim a foreshore and build gas treatment plant in Das Island 170km northwest of Abu Dhabi. The plant will consist of 24 modules with a capacity of 283 million cubic meters (one billion cubic feet) of gas per day.

The plant will send the gas produced in the Umm Shaif gas field to the Habshan onshore plant.

HHI plans to start construction from the end of July 2009, to be completed by September 2013.

“The order is significant in that HHI’s technology and quality are recognized in the offshore and industrial plant. With this order, we expect to take more orders in the Middle East including the UAE and Saudi Arabia as oil prices increase." said a HHI official.
