Dominion (NYSE: D) and a joint venture comprised of IHI E&C International Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of IHI Corporation (TSE: 7013), and Kiewit Energy Company, have entered into an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to develop the Cove Point liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility located on the Chesapeake Bay in Lusby, Maryland. The IHI/Kiewit joint venture will design and construct, commission and start up an estimated (5.25) five million 250 thousand tonnes per annum (MTPA) liquefaction facility, with completion expected in 2017.

IHI E&C successfully completed the front-end engineering design (FEED) portion of the Cove Point liquefaction project in January, with support from Kiewit Oil, Gas and Chemical North America Inc., prior to entering into the Joint Venture relationship.
