Kepodang Gas Field (Muriah Working Area), which is going to distribute gas of 116 million metric cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and Bukit Tua Field (Ketapang Working Area), which is going to distribute gas of 50 MMSCFD and oil of 20.000 barrel per day are ready to produce by 2014. The information was stated by Minister of EMR, Jero Wacik in press conference after accepting the presentation of CEO Petronas, the manager of both fields, Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas in Ministry of EMR, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/5/2012).

“Petronas has re-calculated that Kepodang and Ketapang Field are ready to produce by October 2014. Previously both fields had planned to operate by April 2015,” said Jero Wacik.

Related to Kepodang pipeline problem, Jero Wacik stated that Bakrie side has sent letter to Minister of EMR that stated its willingness to overcome the pipeline program altogether with Petronas’ readiness to start producing.

“Bakrie has sent letter to us, delivering the roadmap of Kepodang pipeline construction. So, when Petronas gas is ready to be distributed, the pipelines will have been ready,” he remarked.

Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas promised to directly supervise the progress of both projects by coming to Indonesia, at least once in three months. “We give full focus on the project in order to make both ready to distribute gas by 2014,” he said.

Director General of Oil and Gas, Evita H. Legowo stated that the amendment of Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) and Gas Transportation Agreement (GTA) will be ready in May. In GSA, there will be amendment concerning the substitution of the lost time due to the delay, which is not fully the mistake of Petronas. “This is not extension, but Petronas gets time substitution for three years,” said Evita.

Kepodang Gas Field has an area of 2.779 km2 and is located in East Java Offshore, 180 km northeast of Semarang. Bukit Tua Field (Ketapang WK) is located in East Java, the north of Madura Island, having an area about 3.322 km2, and is about 100 km from Surabaya industry areas. (AK)
