Shell today announced a binding agreement for the sale of Shell’s (100%-owned) Heide refinery (90 thousand barrels per day capacity) and associated local infrastructure and businesses in Germany to Klesch. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

The agreement with Klesch marks the latest step in Shell’s Downstream strategy to reduce net refining capacity by 15%, to reduce our marketing footprint, and focus the portfolio on profitability and growth potential.
