On 14/02/2012, in the morning, the ANP took note of the oil spill on the evening of 13/02/2012, the P-43 platform, which operates in the Barracuda field.

A flaw in a pipe caused the leak 5m ³ of oil into the sea, about 100 km from the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The Emergency Plan Petrobras was triggered, involving the displacement of vessels for containment and dispersion of the spot, as well as monitoring for overflight.

On this date (16/02/2012), has not observed oil slick at sea, why operations with the vessels were closed. The causes of the event, as well as measures to prevent their recurrence, shall be evaluated by the ANP.
