DFTG Deutsche Flüssigerdgas Terminal Gesellschaft GmbH, Wilhelmshaven, has started an "open season" enabling market players to express their interest in booking capacities at the envisaged LNG reception terminal in Wilhelmshaven. A final decision on construction of the terminal will be taken later irrespective of the results of the open season.

If an investment decision is taken by the end of 2007, the LNG terminal can come into operation in 2011. Initially, up to 90 LNG cargoes a year are to be unloaded at the terminal, which is equivalent to a gas volume of up to 10 billion m³ per annum.

The partners in the DFTG operator company are not only E.ON Ruhrgas AG, Essen, but also VNG - Verbundnetzgas Aktiengesellschaft, Leipzig.

The open season has been launched to ensure non-discriminatory access for third parties to the capacities of the envisaged terminal.
