16 October 2008

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE) was awarded the contract for Tangga Barat Cluster Development Project (Phase 1) in mid September this year by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd. Both the Tangga Barat topside (14,505 MT) and jacket piles (7300MT) are expected to be completed in September and December 2009 respectively. The Tangga Barat project team held the 1st Steel Cut on 16 October 2008, marking the beginning of the project.

Present during the steel cut is Senior General Manager, Development Division of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd. (PCSB) Azhar Nordin, together with other senior members of PCSB Development Division and the site team headed by Syed Zainuddin Syed Abd Rahman.

MMHE is one of the Malaysian fabricators awarded the 80,000 tons job distributed by PCSB recently. To deliver the 80.000 ton jobs, at least 5 million of manhours worked will have to be completed therefore fabricators are encouraged to consider a more innovative and radical approach in enhancing efficiency, quality and HSE performance. This would help the team to be pro-active and develop creative ideas critical to quality and their safety.

Senior Manager Projects MMHE Ahmad Marzuki Ali in his welcoming speech thanked PCSB for their trust in MMHE to undertake project and added that MMHE shall reciprocate the trust by delivering the project as scheduled. Above all, MMHE shall strive to deliver the project with zero LTI.
