Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (“MHB”) announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (“MMHE”), has been awarded a contract for the Telok Gas Development Project by ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. (“EMEPMI”).

MHB’s scope of work includes the procurement, fabrication, onshore testing, load-out and offshore hook-up and commissioning of two (2) topsides and the corresponding two (2) jackets to support the platforms.

At the signing of the contract on 18 October 2011, EMEPMI was represented by its Chairman and President, Mr. Hugh Thompson while Mr. Dominique de Soras MD & CEO of MHB signed on behalf of MMHE.

Mr. Dominique de Soras, shared, “We are extremely pleased to be the main contractor for the fabrication of Telok A and Telok B production facilities for ExxonMobil, which represent one of the key Entry Points Projects for Malaysia. MHB will aim to successfully deliver this ExxonMobil project and will endeavour through its expertise in platform fabrication, to meet ExxonMobil’s high expectations for 1Q 2013 target start-up”.

The Telok A and Telok B are gas satellite platforms with an estimated topside weight of 1,750 metric tonnes (“MT”) and 1,650 MT respectively.

The respective 4-legged jackets with piles and conductors have an estimated weight of 3,900 MT each including pre-installed risers.

The Telok Gas Development Project is being undertaken by ExxonMobil to provide additional gas supplies for the country’s power and industrial needs and to promote the overall growth of the natural gas sector. It has also been identified as one of the Entry Point Projects by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak under the Economic Transformation Programme.
