MMHE charted another milestone when it completed a conversion project for long time clients Talisman and MISC. The FSO Orkid was graciously named by Lady Sponsor Madame Chennene Wright, wife of Mr. Jonathan Wright, Senior Vice President, Talisman Malaysia Limited.

MMHE was awarded the project to convert the 100,047 dwt oil tanker formerly known as Orkid II in December 2006 by Malaysia Vietnam Offshore Terminal (L) Ltd (MVOT), a join venture between MISC and Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC).

Speaking at the naming ceremony, MMHE Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Mr. Wan Yusoff Wan Hamat thanked MISC and Talisman for entrusting MMHE to be part of their foray into the offshore industry in the areas between Malaysia and Vietnam and he also expressed satisfaction that MMHE project team together with MISC and Talisman were able to meet the challenging schedule with stringent supervision and without compromising quality throughout the project. FSO Orkid clocked about 1.6 million manhours worked with zero LTI.

Chairman of MVOT Mr. Zahar Mohd Hashim Zainuddin said that the project would not have been possible if not for the close cooperation and support of all the parties involved in the project and the achievement bears testimony to the close commitment to international safety standards between all parties.

In his speech at the ceremony Mr. Jonathan Wright said "I would like to thank everyone especially MMHE, MVOT and Talisman team for their efforts in bringing this project to fruition."

Also present at the ceremony were Le Minh Hong, Vice President Petrovietnam and members of the board of MVOT and Petroleum Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) as well as senior members from Talisman Malaysia Limited

The FSO Orkid is MVOT's maiden facility project to be installed offshore Malaysia and Vietnam, in PM-3 CAA Oil And Gas Fields with a water depth of 55m and has a storage capacity of 745,000 bbls.
