Mustang, part of international energy services company John Wood Group PLC (“Wood Group”), has completed work on the 304-mile, 24-inch MinnCan Project pipeline owned by Minnesota Pipe Line Company and operated by Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. The pipeline delivers crude oil from northern Minnesota to refineries in the Twin Cities.

Mustang provided project management and was the owner’s consultant for controlling costs and schedule for the project, which had an estimated total installed cost of over $300 million. Mustang’s pipeline team provided overall construction project management, constructability and inspection services with a key focus on assuring safety and quality of the project.

Mustang President Steve Knowles stated, “This project was extremely challenging, with numerous water crossings, wetlands that needed to be traversed and temperatures that dropped to minus 30 degrees F with wind chill factors reaching lows of minus 50 degrees F. Despite the many challenges, the project was completed on schedule, within budget and with a strong focus on safety, a testament to the efforts of our management teams.”
