Aibel is installing two winches for pull-in of risers on the Gullfaks C platform for Statoil. The assignment is awarded as a contract amendment. The estimated value is NOK 100 million.

The winches will be used in the work with replacing the existing pipeline between Gullfaks C and Tordis, which is a fully developed subsea facility.

‘This represents another exciting project in our portfolio, and is the second one we get from Statoil this week,’ says President and CEO Jan Skogseth in Aibel AS.

He refers to a letter of intent that Aibel received on Tuesday, regarding work worth NOK 200 million on a new test facility for subsea compressors at Kårstø.

Part of Visund South contract
In December last year Aibel was awarded a modification contract on Gullfaks C in connection with the fast-track development of the Visund South field. The new installation assignment is awarded as an amendment to this contract.

Aibel is responsible for engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation.

The project is managed from Aibel’s office in Bergen, with assistance from Haugesund, Oslo and Singapore. The project work has already started. It ends in October 2012.
