New Hydrogen Generation Unit was started in Mazeikiu Nafta Refinery. The new unit will generate hydrogen required for low-sulphur fuel production, while the capacity will ensure the hydrogen volumes sufficient for the modernized desulfurization units.

The EU standards require that sulfur content in fuels sold in the EU shall not exceed 10 ppm (10 mg/kg) from 2009. Stricter requirements for sulphur content in fuels increase the demand for hydrogen used in the fuel desulphurization process, requiring the company to build a new, modern and state-of-the-art unit with the capacity twice higher as the previously operated.

Total value of Hydrogen Generation Unit is approx. 250 MM Litas.

Along with the commissioning of Hydrogen Generation Unit Mazeikiu Nafta completed modernization of the second diesel hydrotreatment unit which will ensure increase capacity of low-sulphur diesel fuel production.

Modernization of the first diesel hydrotreatment unit was completed in autumn of the last year.

Total value of Diesel Hydrotreatment Unit modernization is approx. 100 MM Litas.
