The company PEMEX Exploration and Production (PEP) have informed to Dragados Offshore the award of a contract for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, interconnection, testing and start-up of the Oil Production Platform PB-KU-A2.

This contract (which is planned to be signed in two weeks) is part of the investment plans announced by the Mexican Oil Company last year in order to increase their production capacity. It is planned that the Project will be carried out in the Yard of the Company in Tampico (Mexico) through their subsidiary Dragados Offshore Mexico SA de CV.

The Platform, composed of several structures with a total weight of 15,000 tons, will be shipped once completed from the Yard of Dragados Offshore in Mexico to their definitive location in the KU-MALOOB-ZAAP field, Campeche, Gulf of Mexico.

The platform consists of a substructure of 2,300 tons, piles of 4,000 tons, 2 tripods and interconnection bridges of 2,500 tons and a deck of 7,000 tons. The works have to be concluded in 25.5 months.

The Platform KU-A2 will be the fifth project that Dragados Offshore performs for Pemex. The previous ones, AKAL-GC, EPC 39, EPC 60 and EPC 78, have been or are being carried out on schedule to the satisfaction of PEP.
