Premier is pleased to announce the start of oil production from the Ranger operated Kyle oil field located in Block 29/2c in the central North Sea.

Production commenced at 02.30 hrs on 7th April 2001 and is expected to stabilise at 20,000 bopd. It is being processed along with Curlew Field production by the Maersk Curlew FPSO, located approximately 18 km to the south of Kyle. Gas will be exported through the SEGAL system. Initially two wells will be on production and a further well will be drilled later this year.

Last year 1.5 million barrels were produced during a successful extended well test.

Charles Jamieson, Premier Oil's CEO said,

"Kyle is a significant field for Premier and is an important element in the substantial increase in Premier's worldwide production over the next 2 years. "
