The Company is pleased to advise that BG Group, through its Australian subsidiary QCLNG Pipelines Pty Ltd, has appointed MCJV - a joint venture of McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd and Consolidated Contractors Company Australia (CCC) - as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the natural gas transmission pipeline network in the first phase of the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Project to convert Queensland coal seam gas into liquefied natural gas for export.

BG Group announced on 31 October 2010, following receipt of Australian and Queensland Government environment approvals, that it had taken a Final Investment Decision to sanction the first phase of the QCLNG Project, consisting of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.5 million tonnes per annum.

MCJV will do detailed design, procurement and construction work for the 540 kilometre, 42-inch underground gas pipeline network to transport coal seam gas from QGC’s gas fields in the Surat Basin of southern Queensland to a LNG export facility at Curtis Island, near Gladstone. The work includes a marine crossing from the mainland to Curtis Island.

McConnell Dowell and CCC have a significant history of JVs globally and will use their respective large diameter pipeline experience and resources to deliver Australia’s largest diameter and longest pipeline.

Construction will start in early 2011 with completion scheduled for late 2012.
