Russian oil giant Rosneft has selected Topsoe’s technology for two hydrogen units at Kuibyshev and Syzran Refineries.

Both units will supply hydrogen for the production of ultra-low sulphur diesel. The diesel produced will meet the Euro 4 specifications, which come into effect in Russia in 2015.

"The Topsoe project team looks forward to executing the project. We will ensure progress according to schedule and coordination with all partners in order to make the projects a success," says Jack Heseler Carstensen, Sales Manager, Hydrogen & Syngas Technology, Topsoe.

Both units will have a capacity of 50,000 Nm3/h, and they will be based on Topsoe’s radiant wall SMR technology.

The projects continue the good cooperation between Topsoe and Rosneft: A small HTCR hydrogen unit was started up at the Kuibyshev Refinery in 2009, and the construction of a large SMR hydrogen/CO unit at the Angarsk Refinery is also in progress.
