Another reason to be proud to be Bruneian.

In efforts to achieve its vision of “Energy for life…fuelling Brunei’s future”, Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) has marked another significant milestone with the successful installation of the Danau and Bubut platforms in April and May, 2012 respectively.

The Danau and Bubut gas fields are located approximately ten kilometres off the Danau coastline, Tutong, in water depths of approximately 20 metres. The safe and swift completion of Danau and Bubut is set to follow the recent success of BSP’s Selangkir Iron Duke (SKID) platform which produced first oil late December in 2011.

The development Danau and Bubut involved the fabrication and installation of two new four-legged jackets and topsides.

Project Manager, Voon Oi Mee was highly impressed and remarked, “Construction of the platforms’ jacket and topsides took approximately 8 and 10 months respectively – and was safely and completely carried out in BSP’s Marine Construction Yard in Kuala Belait.

At the peak of activity, the project involved hundreds of BSP and business partner staff. I am also pleased to note also that more than 75% of the people who worked on this were from Brunei.”

The development of the Danau and Bubut gas fields heralds the next phase of BSP’s Strategy - “More Exploration” – to develop the more challenging oil gas fields in its acreage.

Shamir Salahudin, BSP’s Darat Asset Manager commented, “Drilling of the first batch of eight wells will begin in September 2012 with first gas planned in December 2012. The gas from these fields will then be sent to Brunei LNG through a 12-inch gas line and will help to meet our customers’ requirements.

We would like to acknowledge the great support from our stakeholders and excellent teamwork, focus and professionalism in project execution and Outstanding Operations, by all involved in keeping this project on track, while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Thank you and well done for demonstrating Pride and Excellence in all we do!”

Along with the previous ultra-modern platforms of Bugan, Mampak and SKID, the Danau Bubut platform is set to support BSP’s vision of “Energy for life… fuelling Brunei’s future” in sustaining the nation’s economy.
