As of May 15, the cumulative oil production of Suizhong 36-1, the largest independent oilfield offshore China, reached 51.92 million tons.

Suizhong 36-1 oilfield was discovered in 1987, and its phase I and phase II projects were put into operation in 1993 and 2000 respectively. Its peak yearly output was 5 million tons.

"The production growth was attributable to two factors: the comprehensive development adjustment and the application of new technologies," said Xiao Maolin, the manager of Suizhong 36-1 Operations.

In 2010, the phase I comprehensive development adjustment project was commenced, and has served to postpone the production decline. The same development adjustment project for phase II is to be put into practice.
