Technip and J P Kenny announced today that their Australian entities, Technip Oceania Pty Ltd and J P Kenny Pty Ltd (Perth), in a 50/50 joint venture, have been selected as the front end engineering and design (FEED) and engineering, procurement, construction management (EPCM) contractor with respect to the upstream facilities for the Greater Gorgon development. The development is located approximately 70 -140 km offshore Western Australia at the North West Shelf in 220 -1,300m water depth and includes both the Gorgon and Jansz fields.

Those fields will supply gas to a 10 MTPA LNG facility on Barrow Island, and to the domestic market in the mainland.

The joint venture has been issued with a letter of authorisation (LOA) by the development’s operator, Chevron Australia Pty Ltd, to commence work on the project. Under the LOA, the joint venture will be mobilised immediately to conduct technical studies and front end planning. All work will be conducted from dedicated JV project offices located in Perth, Western Australia.

The Greater Gorgon development, representing an US$11 billion investment, involves a joint venture which includes Chevron, Shell and ExxonMobil.
