The FCC Alliance announced today its 50th license as Petron Corporation selected this technology for a second grassroots FCC unit to be located at its 180,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Bataan, Philippines.

The 35,900 BPSD FCC unit will convert heavy vacuum gasoil into higher value products: olefins, gasoline and diesel. The FCC unit will maximize propylene production at over 250 thousand tons per annum through a FlexEne integrated scheme. This solution allows the C4 olefinic streams issued from the FCC unit to be further converted to propylene through an Alkyfining unit (purification step) and Polynaphtha unit (oligomerization step). The FCC Alliance was created in 1982 between Axens, The Shaw Group, Total and IFP Energies nouvelles. Generating licenses for FCC/RFCC units, as well as numerous revamps on units designed by other technology providers, the Alliance has been particularly competitive with 50 grassroots references and over 200 revamps.

FCC process can operate in different modes: Maxi Distillate, Maxi Gasoline and High Propylene. The FCC includes the most advanced components for propylene production: impact feed injectors, RS2SM riser termination device, KFBE™ structured stripper packing and vapor quench technology.

FlexEne™ relies on the integration of a FCC and Polynaphtha unit processing light FCC olefins. Thanks to optimized combination of fluid catalytic cracking and oligomerization, FlexEne delivers the largest market product flexibility when targeting production of propylene and/or gasoline and/or distillates.
