The Izmit Refinery New CCR Reformer Unit is one of the projects which has been implemented to achieve production conforming to EU environmental standards had been successfully put into operation. The second and the most important stage of the project, the New Diesel Desulfurization Unit (MQD) was also safely and successfully put in to operation on the fifth day of the start-up, the first products compatible with the specification were pumped to tanks on July 8,2007.

Therefore the Naptha Treatment Unit & CCR Platformer both with a capacity of 4.500 m3/day; and the Continuous Catalyist Regeneration connected to this with a capacity of 950 kg/hr and finally the MQD Diesel Desulfurization Unit with the capacity of 8.500 m3/day which is able to produce ultra low sulphur diesel (below 50ppm) have been put into operation.Diesel production has been realised that is compatible with the specifications which will become effective in European Union in 2009 and thus increases our competitive power at Tupras’ İzmit and İzmir refineries. With the completion of a similar project at Tupras’ Kırıkkale Refinery next year, Tupras will take a big step towards becoming a global player through maximising our competitive edge in our region.
