Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) and PT Rekayasa Industri, Indonesia’s state-owned engineering company, have jointly been awarded RCC Off-Gas to Propylene Project for PT PERTAMINA in Balongan Refinery, West Java, Indonesia.

This project is to increase the propylene production for 179,000 metric ton per year, utilizing the off-gas from Residue Catalytic Cracking (RCC) unit as the feedstock. It is an oil refinery and petrochemical integration project. PT PERTAMINA is focusing on revamping and modifying its existing refineries because of the huge investment required constructing a new one. This project is the part of PT PERTAMINA’s program.

TOYO and PT Rekayasa Industri’s scope of work includes engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, construction and commissioning assistance on a lump sum turnkey basis. The project is scheduled to be completed in the middle of 2010. The contract price is approximately 300million USD. The technology to be used in the project is Olefins Conversion Technology (OCT) of Lummus Technology Inc., USA.

TOYO have 40 years job experience in Indonesia including the Blue Sky Project for Balongan Refinery completed in 2005. TOYO believes this project was awarded because past projects’ experiences were highly evaluated by PT PERTAMINA.

TOYO will endeavor to expand its business in Indonesia where further developments in the field of energy-related projects are expected as its economy is growing up.
