UOP LLC has announced that Flying J successfully commissioned a CCR Platforming(TM) unit for the production of high-octane reformate, an important gasoline component. The CCR Platforming unit, started up in December 2004, is the first commercial use of the Sequential CCR(TM) regenerator section.

UOP supplied a modular reactor and regenerator with a catalyst circulation capacity of 100 lbs per hour in order to revamp Flying J's semi-regenerative reforming unit into a CCR Platforming unit. The CCR Platforming process is the leading moving bed reforming process for the production of high-octane gasoline with more than 185 units in operation worldwide.

Flying J, headquartered in Ogden, Utah, USA, is a provider of motor fuels for the Inter-Mountain West and of wax feedstock throughout the United States. Flying J/Big West Oil LLC operates the 25,000 BPSD nameplate capacity Flying J Refinery in North Salt Lake.
