Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that it is providing multi-disciplined engineering and design, procurement and construction assistance services for a Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE: VLO) project in Paulsboro, New Jersey. Officials did not disclose the contract value.

The project, which supports Valero's ongoing clean fuels initiative, consists of the conversion of the existing Semi-Regeneration Platinum Reforming Unit at Valero's Paulsboro Refinery into an FCC Gasoline Desulfurization Unit (FGDU). Additionally, Jacobs will provide detailed engineering and design, procurement and construction assistance for the utilities and infrastructure to support the FGDU and a Continuous Catalyst Reformer, also a part of Valero's clean fuels initiative.

Officials target completion of the engineering and design phase by the second quarter 2003.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President George Kunberger stated, "This award highlights Valero's confidence in us. We are excited with the opportunity to further develop this important relationship."
