The Ministry of Environment and Water gave a positive assessment of the quality of documentation on the impact assessment on the environment / EIA / of investment proposal: "The pipeline for crude oil Burgas - Alexandroupolis" for the section of pipeline in the territory of Bulgaria.

Assessment of the competent authority that the documentation submitted EIA analyzed the environmental risks that the Supreme Expert Environmental Council / SEEC / should be considered when deciding to make or non-project on Bulgarian territory.

As a result of this evaluation can proceed to continue the EIA procedure - organizing public meetings with affected communities and municipalities on Bulgarian territory, which is the responsibility of the sponsor.

The Ministry sent a letter to sponsor "Trans-Balkan Pipeline BV – Branch Bulgaria "with instructions for the subsequent procedure: the contracting authority shall provide public access to EIA documentation and to organize public meetings in affected communities and municipalities, according to agreements reached between the Bulgarian and Greek side preparing to organize a parallel public meetings in both countries may begin after the Bulgarian and Greek authorities on the Environment confirmed that complete documentation is available on EIA oil pipeline Burgas - Alexandroupolis (assessment of the route of the Bulgarian territory; assessment of the route of the Greek territory and a summary report for the entire route of the pipeline on Bulgarian and Greek territory).

The results of public access to documents and public hearings will be essential to complete the procedure by SEEC discussion and decision on EIA by the Minister of Environment and Water.

According to Bulgarian legislation the Minister of Environment and Water to make a ruling on EIA within 45 days after the last meeting for public discussion.
